# Fusion Plating — Black Oxide Process Pack

black oxide conversion coating process types and bath parameter schemas.

- `BOX_NAOH` — Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH), 600–800 g/L
- `BOX_NITRATE` — Oxidizer (Nitrate/Nitrite), 150–250 g/L
- `BOX_TEMP_HOT` — Bath Temperature (Hot Process), 138–143 °C
- `BOX_TEMP_MID` — Bath Temperature (Midtemp Process), 90–100 °C
- `BOX_TEMP_RT` — Bath Temperature (Room Temp Process), 18–28 °C
- `BOX_TIME` — Immersion Time, 10–20 min
- `BOX_PH_RT` — pH (Room Temp Process), 8.0–9.5
- `BOX_RINSE_PH` — Rinse Water pH, 6.5–7.5

## Safety note

The hot alkaline process (`BOX_HOT`) operates at 138–143 °C, **above the atmospheric
boiling point of water**. Water contact with the hot caustic bath causes explosive
boiling ("bumping"). Parts must be completely dry before immersion. See the
`hazard_notes` field on the process type for the full safety brief.
